A new vision of wellness.
BASIN Glacial Waters is a visionary design, crafted by AD100 architect Matteo Thun. With a deep focus on ecological sensitivity and design consciousness, internationally recognized firm Matteo Thun & Partners was the ideal collaborator for this revolutionary project.

Alpine acumen, global expertise.
Thun’s deep understanding of the alpine—cultivated through his upbringing in the Dolomites and his architectural experience across Europe’s mountains—seamlessly blended with his talent for harmonious high-elevation design.
The soul of Lake Louise.
For Matteo Thun, the approach to the BASIN Glacial Waters brief came down to one thing: highlighting the genius loci or the soul of Lake Louise—its serene power and timeless beauty. The design of BASIN, a convergence of nature and architecture, brings the outside in and shows reverence to the surrounding landscape.

THE LOCATION.
Honouring the landscape.
Surrounded by over 6,500 kilometers of protected forest and perched at 1,600 meters, this wild locale has long been celebrated for its healing and transformative properties. BASIN Glacial Waters pays homage to the timeless tradition of wellness gatherings at Lake Louise.

“It’s about thoughtfully integrating the heritage of the region, its purity and charm, with the refinements of modern hospitality. Nature should shape the architecture, not the other way around.”
– MATTEO THUN, ARCHITECT

Conscious design.
Tactile and timeless.
Capturing the spirit of Lake Louise was at the heart of the architectural intention, to respect the richness of the landscape with a design that represents simplicity, purity and the uniqueness of the location. Responsibility to the land, today and tomorrow, is an ethos architect Matteo Thun faithfully follows in his practice.
